Jimi Hendrix - "Voodoo Soup" (1995)

Jimi Hendrix's Voodoo Soup is an essential album for any Jimi Hendrix album collection.

Featured on this album, in Classic Hendrix Fashion, are songs like Belly Button Window that presents Jimi's classic blues style, along with Stepping Stone, Freedom which has recently become a theme for a car commercial (sell-out), Angel a beautiful ballad, and Room Full of Mirrors which is Jimi's interpretation of a dream.

For anyone trying to escape from the everyday selection of Hendrix, pick up Voodoo Soup, and engage in a new experience. I'd also recommend Band Of Gypsies which was released around the same time as Voodoo Soup. Band of Gypsies is mostly jamming, which is why I purchased Voodoo Soup for the lyrical content as well as the music.

"Voodoo Soup" is a sadly lost cd, probably never to be reissued. But I love this one; it presents a concise, well-rounded and well- compiled set of songs that may have appeared on the album that Hendrix was planning at the time of his death. While most of these tracks have appeared on prior releases like "Rainbow Bridge" and "Crash Landing", this is the best compilation of this material that is likely to ever emerge. The unreleased instrumental 'The New Rising Sun' is amazing, and it's seamless segue into 'Belly Button Window' establishes the tone of "Voodoo Soup": delicious and satisfying to the extreme. But a half hour later, you're hungry for more... While this is no longer in print, you can find the FREE DOWNLOAD link to "Voodoo Soup" in the comments.
